The underlying theory would be the possibility of hypernarratives. That while watching a video you could drill deeper into any subject or while watching a film order James Bond's Jag :) on the spot. No doubt there will be emerging softwares aplenty to tackle this next frontier of the web. ( thanks people for those links). Also it may require some common standards. I know that an ex-Apple developer has a patent pending on something very swish.
